Counselling

Manotsav

A safe space where emotions find clarity and healing.

At Urjabodh, our counselling program provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space where children and adolescents can express their thoughts and emotions openly. Guided by experienced psychologists, our counselling approach focuses on emotional well-being, self-esteem, and interpersonal growth, helping children develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate everyday challenges.

Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, recognizing that every child experiences and processes the world differently. We work with children across diverse developmental profiles—including those with ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, learning differences, and emotional or behavioural challenges—ensuring that support is tailored to each child’s unique needs and strengths.

Emotional Support and Self-Understanding

Counselling sessions provide children with a supportive environment where they can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. Our psychologists work closely with each child to help them understand their feelings, manage emotional difficulties, and develop healthier ways of responding to challenges.

Using evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), play-based interventions, mindfulness techniques, and expressive activities, children gradually learn to regulate their emotions, strengthen self-awareness, and build emotional resilience.

For neurodiverse children, sessions are adapted to suit their communication styles, sensory needs, and pace of processing, ensuring that therapy feels comfortable, engaging, and meaningful.

Addressing Behavioural and Emotional Challenges

Children may sometimes experience difficulties such as anxiety, low self-confidence, frustration, peer conflicts, academic stress, or difficulty managing emotions. Counselling helps identify the underlying factors contributing to these concerns and provides children with practical strategies to cope more effectively.

We also support children in navigating challenges often experienced by neurodiverse learners, such as:

  • Emotional regulation and sensory overwhelm
  • Managing attention and impulsivity
  • Coping with frustration and transitions
  • Building self-esteem and self-understanding
  • Managing school-related stress and expectations

By understanding the root causes of their struggles, children learn strategies that help them respond to situations with greater clarity and confidence.

Strengthening Social and Communication Skills

An important part of counselling at Urjabodh involves helping children develop positive social interactions and communication skills. Many children benefit from guidance in learning how to express their thoughts, understand social cues, and build meaningful relationships.

Through structured activities and guided discussions, we help children:

  • Improve communication and listening skills
  • Understand social boundaries and cues
  • Resolve conflicts constructively
  • Develop empathy and cooperation
  • Build confidence in peer interactions

For neurodiverse children, these sessions may also focus on understanding social dynamics, building flexible thinking, and developing practical strategies for everyday social situations.

Empowering Children and Families

Counselling at Urjabodh is a collaborative process that involves both the child and the family. We work closely with parents to help them better understand their child’s emotional needs and provide guidance on how to support their child’s growth at home.

Through regular feedback and parent consultations, families receive practical strategies that reinforce therapeutic progress beyond the counselling room.

By working together, we create an environment where children feel understood, supported, and empowered, helping them develop the emotional resilience and confidence needed to thrive in school, relationships, and daily life.
